I came to Scotland to experience salmon fishing as a complete beginner with no fly fishing experience. Nicol was recommended to us by several experienced anglers and ghillies as the man to help me. He didn’t fail to deliver! What a great guy! Made me feel at ease. He helped me feel happy with the progress and I was fishing by the end of day one and casting a Double Spey! I can’t fault Nicol and actually as a result of my progress, two more of the more experienced guys had lessons with Nicol later in the week. I had 3 fantastic days with Nicol on the Dee, by the end of which I was successfully and consistently casting left and right double spey and circle c casts. I really learnt line positioning, reading the river and understanding the wind, boosting my confidence enormously. I may not be at my husbands level but can now more then hold my own. Nicol teaches in a way which makes you understand what you are doing and why, meaning you remember and self correct rather than being given a series of movements that you promptly forget by the next day. Thoroughly recommend.
